Two years ago today America prayed

Two years ago… the nation came together in prayer over an unknown virus. Honestly it seems like 6 months ago, not two years.

What was your mindset at the time? Most likely fear, uncertainty, and panic. The unknown is always scary. The future is actually always unknown to us but not to God. Worry comes from what we can’t control, fear comes from the threat of the “what if?”

Did you know the term “fear not” is in the Bible 365 times? Isn’t it interesting that fear not is in the Bible for as many days as are in the year… coincidence? 2 Timothy 1:7 says that “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Fear is a choice but it is also spiritual battle. If the enemy can bind us to fear instead of trust in God, it will overflow out of our actions and reactions to circumstances.

I think back to a nation praying two years ago, I also know the amount of division and pain that has happened since we came together in prayer. Prayer does not prevent pain, but it helps us process pain. It gives our pain a purpose. It helps us love others who might be in similar pain.

My prayer today is for continued healing in this nation and in the hearts of people who need to trust Jesus daily. I pray that love would overflow in my life. I pray that when fear creeps in, I would overwhelm it with faith in the God of everlasting to everlasting. What is your prayer today?

  1. They will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. God is using COVID to reveal so much . Christians should be realizing that this world is an illusions based on lies based on greed and sin. We are warned to “come out “ of Babylon before she’s destroyed.
